Job Description
HumanHire is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for our client, a leading non-profit organization, to join their Central Administration team. This full-time role involves managing payroll data, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws, preparing reports, and supporting financial functions such as accounting, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting for the real estate portfolio. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Director of Payroll and the Assistant Controller of Real Estate to ensure accurate financial and payroll processing.

Payroll Processing – Manage the centralized processing of bi-weekly payrolls, issuing paychecks or direct deposits. Maintain payroll data and systems for accurate and timely payments and reporting.

Payroll Reporting – Prepare and provide payroll reports, including earnings, federal taxes, garnishments, and deductions. Ensure accurate payroll data integration into the general ledger.

Collaboration with HR – Assist HR with issues related to withholding, employee benefits (health, life insurance, workers compensation), and job codes.

Financial Analysis and Reporting – Support accounts payable and receivable for the real estate portfolio. Prepare monthly financial reports and maintain financial records.

Audit and Reconciliation – Assist with audits and reconciliation of financial data under the supervision of the Assistant Controller of RE.

Data Entry and Administrative Support – Provide clerical support, including data entry, file maintenance, and correspondence generation related to payroll and financial functions.

Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Experience – Minimum of 3 years of professional/administrative experience, with knowledge of payroll methods, tax filing, and benefit administration.

Skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP systems. Experience with integrated payroll software such as Paycom is a plus.

Abilities – Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with various departments.
