This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for an RFP Manager to join our team in our Washington D.C. office. We offer a hybrid work engagement with one to two days of remote work, and the remaining days in-office.Â

As Davis Wright Tremaine LLP continues to grow its practices and industry teams, the Proposals/RFP Manager will play a key role in supporting partners and the business development team on strategic, cross-practice, and industry proposals.Â

This high-profile role requires strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with attorneys, members of our business development team and subject-matter experts from across the firm in the creation of written content developed to win new business at the pitch stage of the sales pipeline.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Operations Manager, the Proposals/RFP Manager will lead the development of compelling responses to RFPs and proposals, ensuring best practices, and a strategic approach to business development efforts across the firm.

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $123,000 to $142,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. On a typical day you will:
- Lead and manage the preparation of proposals and RFP responses, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.
- Organize and lead proposal kick-off and progress meetings, managing timelines and action items.
- Manage the proposal process lifecycle, ensuring best practices, continuous improvement, and feedback integration.
- Work with partners and client teams to develop pitch strategy, conduct rehearsals, and prepare presentation materials.
- Coordinate the preparation of smaller pitches and capability statements with BD Managers, Specialists, and Coordinators.
- Support high-value panel proposals and take the lead on smaller panel RFPs.
- Primary lead for the development and maintenance of the firms’ proposals technology, including proposals generating tools and RFP submission databases.
- Track and report on RFP activity, pitch volumes, and success rates, flagging trends and concerns to BD leadership.
- Maintain accurate records in the firm’s pitch tracking system (Foundation), ensuring win/loss analysis and performance metrics are captured.
- Work with BD Directors to conduct high-value pitch feedback reviews and present insights to BD leadership.
- Support projects relating to firmwide and practice area content used in proposals and pitches, in coordination with marketing operations, stakeholders, including attorneys, business development, firm management, practice group leaders and attorneys.
- Collaborate with BD, Marketing, and Marketing Operations teams to ensure proposal content is current, relevant, and aligned with firm standards.
- Manage and help to develop proposal infrastructure, including boilerplate text, pitchbooks, credentials, and biographies.
- Ensure consistency in proposal strategy and execution across practice and industry groups.
- Research best practices and market trends related to RFPs and pitches.
- Train members of the business development team on the RFP tools and process.
- Facilitate best practices and knowledge-sharing across BD teams firmwide.
- Other related tasks, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five or more years of proposal development experience in a law firm or other professional services organization with a strong track record at the manager level.
- Ability to lead pitches and RFP responses in a law firm setting.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Experience managing multi-jurisdictional and multi-practice proposals, including panel and matter-specific RFPs.
- High competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM/KM applications.
- Experience with the PERSUIT platform preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior lawyers, partners, and business professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performing team.
- Confident handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
