Job Description
HumanHire is working with one of the largest hospital systems in New York to add a Pathologist's Assistant to their team. The Pathologist's Assistant will be responsible for receiving specimens, handling tissue samples, conducting gross examinations, preparing tissue sections, performing quality control, assisting in research sample procurement, and participating in autopsy procedures.
What's in it for you?
- Location: Bronx, NY
- Pay: $120,000 - 150,000/year
- Schedule: 9AM-5PM

Responsibilities:
- Receive specimens from operating rooms and endoscopy suites.
- Enter data into Epic Beaker LIS for order management.
- Prioritize tasks and maintain organization.
- Handle tissue samples, including small fragments.
- Examine and submit tissue sections from complex surgical specimens.
- Prepare tissue samples for frozen sections.
- Stain routine Hematoxylin/Eosin.
- Ensure laboratory quality control.
- Process requests and procure tissue samples for research.
- Organize and store surgical specimens.
- Use voice recognition for gross examination dictation.
- Assist in organ evisceration and brain removal during autopsies.
- Dispose of tissue and waste properly.
- Assist in training other staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- New York State Pathologist Assistant License required.
- Some familiarity with Histology and Immunopathology preferred.
- Proficiency with equipment including microtomes, LIS, scales, etc.
- Knowledge of Surgical Cutting Room and Autopsy procedures.
- Familiarity with equipment operation and lab policies.
