Job Description
HumanHire has partnered with a leading healthcare organization in Melville to find a Physician Insurance Follow up Representative to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity to work in a mission-driven organization that supports patients and ensures the financial success of its operations through accurate billing and claims follow-up.
What’s in it for you?
- Pay Range: $23–26/hr, based on experience
- Location: Melville, NY
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday 8am-4:30pm

- Team Culture: Collaborative, patient-centered work environment with opportunities for training and growth
- Conduct timely follow-up on outstanding insurance claims and resolve denials or rejections by contacting payers via phone, fax, or online portals
- Research and update patient demographic, insurance, and account information within billing systems
- Process insurance payments, adjustments, and credit card transactions accurately
- Review and resolve self-pay accounts and coordinate with responsible parties as needed
- Submit and follow up on claims for Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, and No-Fault cases
- Update eligibility status and authorization information in electronic systems
- Escalate unresolved issues or irregularities in the billing cycle to supervisors promptly
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer-specific regulations, including CMS (HCFA) 1500 form requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, or reimbursement
- Strong knowledge of third-party billing practices and insurance websites
- Familiarity with medical terminology and claims processing
- Computer literate with experience using EMR and billing software
