Job Description
We’re partnering with a nonprofit client in Suffolk County to hire a Social Services Program Manager who will oversee operations across several emergency shelter sites. This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll guide staff, ensure residents receive meaningful support, and help strengthen critical community programs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $68,000 – $72,000 annually
- Full-time, exempt role

- Oversee operations across multiple shelter locations, ensuring smooth communication and coordination between staff, administration, and community partners.
- Provide hands-on leadership, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management of shelter staff.
- Monitor site performance to ensure safety standards, service goals, and compliance requirements are consistently met.
- Support staff in managing client cases, tracking progress, and achieving program benchmarks.
- Manage scheduling, payroll approvals, and resource allocation to maintain efficient operations across all locations.
- Keep accurate and confidential resident records, ensuring compliance with privacy guidelines and agency policies.
- Assist with updating program policies to reflect current DSS requirements and best practices.
- Respond to urgent issues and provide crisis support, including availability for after-hours emergencies.
- MSW, MHC, or a related advanced degree preferred; OR a bachelor’s in Health & Human Services with at least 3 years of case management experience.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to juggle priorities across multiple sites.
- Comfortable handling crisis situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Familiarity with DSS regulations, case management practices, and confidentiality standards.
