Job Description
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and laboratory support for a General Surgery practice, including patient intake, diagnostic testing, specimen processing, EMR/LIS documentation, and assisting providers with in-office procedures.
What’s in It for You
- Pay Rate: $22-27.50/hr (based on experience)
- Schedule: 4/8.5-hour shifts, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (Every Friday off!)
- Location: East Setauket, NY

Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake, vital signs, and medical history documentation
- Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, rapid testing, and EKGs
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during exams and treatments
- Operate lab equipment, process specimens, run and document lab tests and quality control
- Enter and manage lab and clinical data in EMR/LIS systems
- Coordinate specimen send-outs to reference labs
- Communicate effectively with providers, staff, and patients
- Support coverage across multiple locations as needed
Medical Assistant Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant Certification required
- Current BLS Certification
- 1+ year outpatient or lab experience
- Experience with EMR/LIS systems
