Payroll Manager
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 per year, based on experience

HumanHire is partnered with a renowned contracting firm seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee union payroll and multi-state payroll operations for employees across the U.S. This in-office role ensures payroll is accurate, compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, and delivered on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the weekly payroll process for unionized employees across multiple states

  • Audit and verify payroll data, correcting discrepancies as needed

  • Maintain organized payroll records and employee files

  • Update and manage union pay scales and employee benefit contributions

  • Generate payroll reports, reconcile accounts, and prepare payroll-related tax filings

  • Process deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide support on compliance matters

  • Supervise payroll staff and ensure smooth team operations

  • Support additional payroll and HR functions as needed

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing union payroll in a multi-state environment

  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), prevailing wages, and payroll compliance

  • Construction or contracting industry payroll experience is a preferred

  • Experience with payroll and HR systems, including Sage 300, Rhumbix, Arcorro, and BambooHR

  • Experience with in-house payroll processing highly valuable
