Job Description


HumanHire has partnered with a leading financial institution to find a Controller for their team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Credit Union’s financial records, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and managing the daily financial operations. This role involves managing the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with the CEO to drive strategic financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the general ledger system, ensuring accurate data entry, financial records, and timely reporting.
  • Develop, test, and implement policies and procedures for maintaining accurate accounting records and preparing reports.
  • Prepare and maintain the NCUA 5300 Call Report, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all work papers related to this regulatory requirement.
  • Assist the CEO with budgeting, financial projections, and investment decisions, ensuring the Credit Union’s financial health and growth.
  • Process CECL calculations, assist with loan approval processes, and evaluate loan participations for proper documentation and handling.
  • Monitor liquidity analysis to ensure proper cash flow management and maintain minimum liquidity requirements for the Credit Union.
  • Collaborate with auditors and examiners, assisting with the gathering of records and facilitating audits.
  • Prepare monthly financial packages and board presentations, providing clear, detailed insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of financial industry regulations and trends.
  • Handle complex transactions, solve department problems, and support members and employees as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field; or 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, FASB standards, and financial regulations in the financial industry.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to write reports, interpret financial documents, and explain complex financial matters clearly to others.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a financial institution with knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
