Job Description
The Float Medical Assistant supports outpatient oncology and hematology practices across multiple Nassau County locations. Responsibilities include patient intake, clinical and lab support, diagnostic testing, specimen processing, and assisting providers in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
What’s in It for You
- Pay Rate: $25-32/hr (based on experience)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4/10 hour shifts or 5/8.5 hour shifts between the hours of 7:30am-6pm
- Floating Locations: Nassau County (Rockville Centre, Babylon, Valley Stream, Lake Success, & Bethpage)
- Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life insurance, short- & long-term disability, 401(k), generous PTO, and 8 paid holidays (2 floating)
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake, vitals, and medical history
- Perform venipuncture, urine/stool collection, rapid testing, and EKGs
- Prepare exam rooms, assist providers, and support in-office procedures
- Operate lab equipment, manage specimens, run quality control, and report critical lab values
- Document clinical and lab data in EMR/LIS systems and coordinate specimen send-outs
- Provide coverage across multiple locations as needed
- Communicate effectively with providers, staff, and patients
Medical Assistant Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant Certification required
- Current BLS Certification
- 1+ year outpatient or lab experience
- Experience with EMR/LIS systems
