Job Description
Head Nurse (RN)
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Head Nurse in a busy oncology setting. This role is responsible for overseeing nursing operations during assigned shifts, supporting staff performance, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care. The Head Nurse plays a key role in maintaining efficient clinical workflows and promoting patient satisfaction.
Details:
- Pay Rate: $56–$71/hour (experience-based, with annual increases)
- Schedule: 4 days/week, 10-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM), OT eligible
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k), generous PTO, and 8 paid holidays (including 2 floating)
Head Nurse Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing activities during assigned shifts
- Assign patient workloads and monitor patient flow
- Administer and oversee medication orders in accordance with clinical protocols
- Train, mentor, and support nursing staff, including new hires
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, following all infection control and PPE standards
- Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to address operational and patient care needs
Head Nurse Qualifications
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
